The Burrow and The Aviary

Hi, I'm Mrs Gravenor and I am the teacher in the Burrow and the Aviary and I lead our student teachers. I cannot wait to see what adventures we will have together this year.
This is my 8th year at St John's and I have taught across the Early Years, KS1 and KS2. I love being creative with lessons and following our own interests as individuals to inspire our learning.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son exploring Kent and singing at my church.
Meet our team:
Mrs Gravenor - SEMH Teacher (Mrs Wallace to teach on Fridays)
Mrs G - Teaching assistant
Mrs Bell - Therapeutic Inclusion Practitioner
Mrs Cook - SEMH support assistant
Mrs Hinde - SEMH support assistant

In the Burrow and Aviary each child works to their own bespoke timetable. Most days this will include Maths, English, specialist playtime support and time in your main class.
Important dates for the diary
Mondays - Visit to Bee Free on the Farm - Please come ready for any weather.
Friday - Baking and theme day (please bring in a tub to take your bakes home).
Our learning this term
This term we are going to be focusing on 'Super me!'. We will be exploring more about ourselves and how we can gather, grow and go together as a Barn Owl team.
Be ready for learning! In Barn Owl class your child will need to have these items in school:
-
Book bag (no rucksacks please)
-
Water bottle (no squash or juice)
-
Lunchbox (if not having school meal)
-
Wellington boots (to leave in school)
-
Coat (weather appropriate)
-
Slippers (to leave in school)
What are we looking forward to this year?
We are really excited to be continuing our weekly visits to the farm this year. Mrs Gravenor is particularly excited that she gets to join you every week!
Last year we loved getting messy and exploring our senses with lots of sensory play. We are looking forward to continuing this journey this year.
Mrs Bell is continuing her work with us this year and expanding the amazing learning she does with us in class with some parent sessions. I wonder what fun you will get up to!
This year's highlights:
We started the year with lots of messy play, team building and our first trip to the farm. I can't wait to see what we will do next!

Term 2 highlights:
Our main highlight for term 2 was our incredible talent show. We are so excited to welcome parents to join us in our premier showing of our show.
